West Ham reject opening £11m offer from Crystal Palace for Cheikhou Kouyate
The Hammers are holding out for a little bit more for the midfielder who will struggle for game time this season

West Ham have rebuffed an opening bid of £11m from Crystal Palace to sign midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate, football.london understands.
The Hammers are holding out for £15m for Kouyate and are in no desperate rush to sell despite the Senegal midfielder facing limited game time this season.
Kouyate has fallen behind Jack Wilshere in the pecking order in midfield since the former Gunner arrived in east London, while Mark Noble, Declan Rice, Josh Cullen and Pedro Obiang are alternatives in midfield.
Kouyate has been a regular in the Hammers midfield since signing from Anderlecht back in 2014 but has struggled for form over the last couple of seasons, particularly in 2017/18.
The midfielder is under contract in east London until 2021 so the Hammers can demand a bit more cash than you might have thought from Palace to take Kouyate off their hands.
The 28-year-old returned to training at Rush Green this week following his exertions for the Lions of Teranga at the World Cup, where they failed to make it out of their group courtesy of picking up more yellow cards.
The same rules apply for fellow midfielder Obiang, who is of interest to former club Sampdoria. The Hammers won't be entertaining any offers for less than £15m for him but manager Manuel Pellegrini sees the Spaniard as a key member of his squad for the upcoming season.
Pellegrini said earlier this week that if anyone was to be sold this summer then they would be replaced.

TT Introduces: West Ham wonderkid Reece Hannam

West Ham supporters in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating the 2018/19 Premier League season, what with their side seeking to improve upon their underwhelming 13th place finish last time round.
The Hammers struggled for much of the campaign and were certainly embroiled in a relegation battle for much of it, to the point that Slaven Bilic lost his job back in October. And it was up to David Moyes to come in and move the club away from the bottom three, and he did just that in leading the East London outfit to a 13th place finish, although it wasn’t enough to earn him the job on a longer term basis as he left at the expiration of his contract.
And he has since been succeeded by Manuel Pellegrini, much to the excitement of West Ham fans up and down the country, several of whom are wondering who the next star could be to emerge from the club’s youth ranks, having seen Declan Rice do just that in recent times.
And based on his efforts for the club’s Under-18 side last term, 17-year-old wonderkid Reece Hannam could well be the next star to come up through one of the world’s most famous academies.
The left back was a regular in the Under-18 team during the 2016/17 campaign in appearing 22 times for the side, yet it was last season in which he really took it up another notch by laying on five assists in just 13 appearances in the South division of the Under-18 Premier League.
In fact, that tally was the most of any Hammers player that turned out for the Under-18s last term to underline how important he was to the team over the course of the season, at the same time suggesting that he has the offensive capabilities which have seemingly become a requirement of the modern-day full back.
Add in the fact that Hannam earned two appearances for the Under-23s in Premier League 2 earlier this year, starting against both Manchester United and Sunderland (and laying on an assist in the former clash), and it’s clear that he is well thought-of at the London Stadium, and as such could well be destined for big things in the not-too-distant future.
And with Rice making his way up into the first team last term, the 17-year-old could well be the next star to emerge out of the West Ham youth ranks.
